Potty training?

My 21 month old is taking her diaper off after she pees. She watches me use the bathroom but doesnt mimic me or seem very interested. She wakes up dry from naps but only about twice a week or so. She also doesnt quite know "bathroom words". I dont feel shes quite ready but shes my first and the removal of her diaper seems like a sign. Any tips/experience?

I read “oh crap! Potty training” and it was very helpful. My daughter isn’t ready for naps and nights yet, but she’s perfect during the day! She just turned 22 months and we did it about two weeks ago. The first day was HORRIBLE! But it got better quickly. Just plan for a long first few days.

My daughter wasn't doing any of this and we potty trained her in 3 days at 20 months with next to no issues. I'd definitely buy her a big girl potty and start the process!

You ought to go to the store and have her pick out her own potty chair! My daughter is almost 21 months and wears panties throughout the day. We started her wearing absolutely nothing while we were at home and awake. We have hard wood floors so accidents were easy to clean up. But she started getting the hang of using her potty! After a couple weeks of doing that, I started putting undies on her. It took her a few days to get the idea that she’s got to let me know when she needs to go so we can make it to the potty. So far, so good!! We use a rewarding system (1 Annie’s chocolate graham bunny for pee, 2 for poop). Every time she makes it to the potty with clean, and dry undies, she gets to stick a little star sticker on a poster I created for her!! She loves it. Make it fun. Have fun with it. Have her help clean up her mess when she has an accident or throw her undies into the dirty basket when they’re wet.

They have training undies at Target and Walmart (the ones at Walmart came with the star stickers!!)

Could be, do you have a little potty for her? I’d start by letting her sit when you do. Also, my pediatrician told us to skip pull ups, that they train faster when they can feel wet panties. For when you get to that point. I know many people opt for the three day method of training, but I found myself anxious and frustrated. It probably took us a few months to train my daughter, but I was more relaxed and I didn’t feel bad sending out negative vibes, as opposed to the couple times I did attempt an all out potty weekend.

Taking her diaper off is definitely a sign to start. Woth my kids when they showed signs I started with just having a small potty available to them, and having them sit on it before a bath just to get used to it. When they start showing more interest I put in more effort of explaining and encouraging using the potty. My first son took to it really easily, I also used bribery with m&ms as a potty training tool 😂 but it worked really well for us. My second is still taking the insert out of his potty and using it as a hat, so he has awhile lol
