Is it normal not to have a Follicle check or ultrasound

Amanda

Is it normal to not have the doctor do a test to see if you’re ovulating that day or check your eggs or follicles the day of your IU why I just called them and they said that they do not check that that’s why you take the opk and if it’s positive you just come in but I find it weird that they don’t run any other test before I spent close to $300 on an IUI in the office

I don’t know if it’s normal , but definitely not good. They have to check the size of the egg if it’s enough mature before the IUI.

Right because there is another reason you arent conceiving. She is doing a natural, unmedicated cycle. theres no reason to monitor her follicle size or count yet.

No they don't. They do for women who have miscarried more than 3x or if theres other reasons you're not conceiving.

Yes its normal if you are doing a natural cycle, and it sounds like you are. I did a natural cycle last time and there was no check, just my positive OPK. This time I paid extra for what is called a monitored cycle and they do ultrasound every morning. Good luck😊

Oh I see , how much did you have to pay extra for monitored cycle I’m starting to think if this iui doesn’t work I’m going to do a trigger shot and then iui

The day of my IUI the doc does not check. They pretty much know from the previous scans how your body responds. But I will say the day they have told me to trigger I got a positive opk so it makes me feel good to be in sync.

Yeah I’m thinking to do the trigger next iui if this one doesn’t work

Def normal. With all of my IUIs (5) with a reputable clinic, they monitor u on cd3 and cd10. It’s ur responsibility to use opks and monitor ur ovulation (unless u need a trigger) and let them know when u peak and they’ll bring u in for iui.

My doctor only checked follicle growth, and did labs on the third and final round.

If it’s a natural IUI, than I’d say it’s normal. If it’s medicated, than they would do an ultrasound to check follicle growth.

Sounds like it. My dr told me the one thing I needed to remember was that my conception plan wont match others. We are doing a natural cycle, so I do labs (which thankfully have all come back clear and great). I call when I get a positive and I go in the next day for insemination. Trust your dr girl. If you feel like something isn't right, advocate for yourself.

I just finished my 2.5 mg letrozole last Saturday and I can’t afford to do the trigger shot so we were going to try iui ... idk if this is a natural cycle I’m all new
