Abnormal period after removing my copper IUD

I had a copper IUD placed in 2013 and just had it removed last November of 2018. I had my period like I normally would that month rite after it was removed. I didn't have my period in December or January. In fact just 3 days of REALLY light bleeding in January. I took multiple pregnancy tests throughout December and January but all were negative. On February 13th i finally got my period. But it was HEAVY. And I've just started seeing the signs that it's hopefully about to end. I have never had my period for 18 days. Is this normal? I know it's non hormonal but its just to big of a coincidence.

I'd like to hear other girls stories about having the copper iud removed, after having it for a long time, and how their body adjusted to being without it anymore.

I didnt switch to a new bc because my fiance and I are actually wanting to have a baby. So currently I'm not taking any birth control.
