PCOS & life ...
Hey guys,
It has been a hard past few months of TTC, we moved back home after a year 3 states away only to find out my 20 year old sister is pregnant by accident and SOMEHOW I volunteered myself to plan/host all the parties... I haven't had a major meltdown yet, and am holding it together pretty well given the circumstances, but it's still a difficult time for me personally because I want to be so happy and excited that I get to be an auntie, but it's kind of a catch 22. Since I was 15 I dreamed of being a mommy💕 one day, and now it just seems like I'm chasing that "one-day" ...
But, because I want to get answers from my doctor on where to head next I am asking yalls help in how to approach the situation and hopefully get the doctor to move their ass.
So a little background: I was diagnosed 4 years ago with PCOS b/c of irregular periods (3 months apart regularly) and my doctor started me on Metformin (3 500mg tabs daily) and Progesterone (250mg days 1-14 of the month). I had an ultrasound to confirm and showed the usual "string of pearls" and they said my left ovary is slightly smaller than my right.
Husband and I have been TTC since before diagnosis, and we thought with the diagnosis it would be easier to fight our way through the trenches of TTC. Sadly, here we are 4 years later and no BFP.
3 years ago I weighed 345lbs. Given that my weight most likely hindered the process, I have been working on losing it and am down to 290lbs. I know I still have a ways to go, but I have some questions on how to talk to my doctor about moving forward with my fertility options.
1) How do I know that I am ovulating?
My periods have been regular since starting the meds, but knowing that the opks don't work with people that have PCOS, is a specialist the route to go?
2) Sometimes my periods are only 1-3 days and are just spotting, is that still ok?
3) How do I ask my doctor about Clomid?
4) Does my ovary size affect anything reproductively?
🔥5) Today(3/4) is 1 dpo and all I drink all day is water and for the past 2 days I have felt like a UTI/Yeast infection is coming on, but it comes and goes. It's mostly the frequent urination and need to pee, but nothing to pee. This usually only happens when I have more than 3 sodas in a day (which is extremely rare these days with trying to lose this weight, and haven't done in a month) WHAT IS HAPPENEING😖
Anyways...
I know this is a long post, but my appointment isn't until August and I'm trying to gear up to be ready for that if we don't have our BFP by then to move onto the next step.
Any advice, or whatever would be appreciated...
