Fresh to FET Transfer

So I had my last monitoring appointment this morning. The nurse called and retrieval is officially scheduled for Wednesday. However, they have converted us from a fresh to frozen transfer. This was so incredibly hard to hear as we had an end in sight, but now transfer is 6-8 weeks away. My estradiol was really high so I know they are taking precautions in preventing OHSS and I am extremely grateful, but it's still really hard. This whole process is really trying. I don't know what I'm looking for...just somewhere to rant as our families don't know we're going through our IVF cycle right now. Thanks for listening 🙂

I was told you have better chances with frozen transfers. Even though you have to wait a few weeks it would be worth it if the embryo sticks. Good luck. Waiting sucks.

You are not alone, I am facing the same thing due to high progesterone. Won’t know till Sunday what exactly we are going to do, but I was extremely upset when I was told about most likely having a FET instead of fresh. I felt the same, like we were getting close but then had another setback. Hopes and prayers!

I was switched from a fresh to a frozen and although I was upset at first I’m only a week away from my transfer now and it went faster than I thought it would. I’m also extremely grateful for the break my body got while waiting. In the end you’ll appreciate the break. Good luck!

Good luck! My estradiol was over 8,000 the day before my retrieval and my p4 was also high so they switched me from fresh to frozen. I was bummed at first, but after reading and hearing that success rates are better with FET, I feel better about it. Plus, my body gets a break from the hormones and prodding for a few weeks.

I understand! My clinic said they very rarely ever do any fresh transfers anymore. The success rates are much higher while using frozen embryos and giving your body a much needed break. They want the best environment possible for baby! I’m in the wait after retrieval so just keep urself busy if you can!
