Strict parents & Kyleena
Hi lovelies
So I am from a super strict Muslim family, & if my parents found out I was having sex, consequences would be fatal.
My mum found my pills last year, I told her they were for my period & she was very aggressive & forced me to stop taking them.
She regularly goes through my room/bags and it very controlling.
I’m going to uni in Hertfordshire (just outside London) to study midwifery. I’ll be at the same uni as my bf, so I’ll see him regularly. But I’ll also be living with my mum.
I need to be on birth control, but I need to be on something my mum can’t find. I don’t want anything with wrappers or that comes in a packet (like the pill/patch). I also don’t want anything with oestrogen in.
I love the idea of the depo shot- because it’s effective without literally putting any device in my body. But the side effects scare me too much. I naturally have weak gums, & I’ve heard side effects of depo making people’s teeth fall out.
My doc recommended nexplanon, but I don’t like the idea of heavy bleeding. She said I can take the pill to stop the bleeding- but I refuse to take the pill because my mum killed me last time she found out. I also work 12hr shifts as a midwife at uni so taking a pill at the same time is hard.
I’m leaning more towards the IUD- in particular Kyleena. But I am so so so so scared of complications. If something major happens (like it becomes imbedded it gives me PID) I’ll end up on hospital & obvs my mum’ll know I’m on bc. She’ll be more angry that I was on bc, than worried for my health.
I know I have an irrational fear of it becoming imbedded or travelling around to my bladder or elsewhere, but I cannot risk my mum finding out I’m on birth control.
She’s a very strict Pakistani Muslim, & if she was to find out, the consequences for me would be fatal. I also can’t risk getting pregnant, because again the consequences would be horrific.
My questions:
- anyone else have strict parents & hide birth control? How do you do it?
- reviews on Kyleena in particular? Anyone got any perforation stories? Stats say it’s unlikely but other fb groups say differently.
Lastly- I’ll be in Hertfordshire/London. I know perforation/embedment happens more if you have an inexperienced doc inserting it.
So anyone know any good places/clinics to go in Hertfordshire/London to get an IUD?? Recommend any doctors in particular??
Thank you x
