Birth Control?

I am now sexually active and my parents want me to get on birth control... I am really just scared of how it will affect my body. I have done research and I just want to know other people’s experiences with it. What are some pros and cons?  I have heard a lot of negative experiences and not enough positive ones.

Birth control will affect your body a lot less then pregnancy will.  
There are non hormonal methods if you prefer. Talk to the doctor about your options and concerns.

I've been on the patch for five years with no complaints, but I've seen plenty of women on here who had problems. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor and figure out whether or not you even NEED it, let alone what type to get. Your parents can't force you to take anything or undergo any medical procedure.

I was really scared before starting too because I had heard so many negative stories about it. I think though that people are far more likely to discuss their negative experiences than they are to share if they’re having no issues at all. Personally, I started on the pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen) a month ago, and the only side effect I’ve experienced has been some increased irritability. I’ve also had some really drastic, frustrating life changes happening at the same time though, so I can’t say with certainty that the irritability is more a side effect of the pill than it is just as a result of stress. All that to say, there are lots of people who experience side effects, but I really believe there are just as many who don’t. I know that I am absolutely willing to put up with some side effects though if it means staying pregnancy-free, lol.

i’ve had the implant since june 2017. no side effects for me personally, but i know others have had them. 
you just have to find whats best for you. this is my first birth control and it’s been amazing! however, what works for others might not work for you. 
i think it would be wise to start birth control, especially as a sexually active teenager. 
ultimately, it’s up to you. it’s your body.
