Why was my ultrasound so blurry??

I had my first abdominal ultrasound today at 11w2d. The baby was so hard to see! Why??? The doctor said everything was great after reviewing it and the tech talked it up to the baby being small. I see all these other ultrasounds looking so clear and defined. Could it be extra belly/tummy fat that blurred it?

Sometimes it can be the probe if you did a transvaginal , eventually they've been used so much that they just stop working correctly or it could be the transducer. At one of my ultrasounds my OB asked for a new probe & the picture came out a lot clearer

I’m chubby and get blurry abdominal pics.  It will get clearer as baby grows, my last pregnancy my first ultrasound was at 16 weeks and it was clear as day.

I have heard that if you do have a bigger belly it can sometimes makes the pictures more blurry and baby more hard to see. Also if you didn’t have a full bladder that could have a big impact on quality.

I’ve read that if you have a BMI over 30 then it can effect the image quality, I have a BMI of 34 and it definitely made it blurry!

I had my ultrasounds at 10 weeks and 12 weeks, both were abdominal, but the pictures I got for the 12 weeks was super blurry compared to my 10 week one. 
I took videos during the 12 weeks ultrasound and it was super clear on the screen, but the pictures the tech printed were just not a great quality for some reason. I’m guessing the stills weren’t very good and the contrast was definitely off.

The first one is at 8 weeks and is a transvaginal. The second one is 12 weeks 2 days and is abdominal. The tech said it was blurry because the baby was moving around a lot and because I carry some extra padding around my stomach area. But I am smaller this baby than I was years (11 and 9 now) ago with my 2nd and 3rd so who knows.

The tech didn’t bump up the contrast enough, the ones were mine are blurry there is less contrast BUT they are also right in saying baby is very small right now so that can complicate the view as well
