Are you supposed to tip?

when you go to get a manicure or pedicure or hair done are you supposed tip them or no?

I always just think regardless they are doing a service for you. Tip!! I am a beautician and tips are super important!

Why don't people tip for hair but they would for nails.... It's the same industry?

I'm a nail tech and Yes.. it would be nice if people understood tipping is important. It's a service. We work for commission but if the service is $20 that doesn't mean we GET $20. Where I work the split is 60/40 which means I get 60% of each service I do, the rest goes to the shop owner to cover shop expenses and such. So when people dont tip or the service was $38 and they tip $2 just to make it "even" it can get frustrating.. now trust me I completely understand if you get someone who doesn't honor the service you asked for or they did it but it was a bad job but for techs you come to, they do what you ask, you have no complaints, TIP.

i tip literally wherever. granted ive worked a job where half my check was tips, but i do it out of sincerity. if someones doing a good job, its important to let them know! thats why when i leave my hair salon, my stylist never gets anything under $20. shell ask me a thousand times if im sure i want to tip her that much and its like hell yeah i do! she does fantastic work and ima let her know!
