Vaginal birth after 3rd degree tear experiences?
Not sure where to post this, but I figured here you ladies may have the best advice.
I gave birth over 4 years ago, to my little boy. He was 6.9 pounds. I was in labour for 36 hours, 8 of those pushing, before they took me to theatre & I ended up having a forceps delivery. I had a 3rd degree tear, which took a few weeks to heal.
I was quite traumatised from all this, & my anxiety has flared up since I found out I was pregnant with #2. I’ve tried to stay positive, & look forward to attempting to make this birth a positive experience compared to my last. This is the first child for my partner (I wasn’t with my little boys father), & we’ve both been looking forward to doing this together.
I’ve spoken to my midwife today, & she wants me to discuss it with my doctor, but she recommended a c-section due to complications that could arise if I were to tear again. She mentioned this about 5 times, so I know it’s what she wants me to do.
I’m just wondering if anyone has been through something ‘similar’ to this, & has went on to have a natural delivery without any issues?
At the end of the day, like my partner keeps telling me, as long as bub & I are healthy & safe, that’s all that matters. But I feel that having a natural birth, with my partner by side would help me gain some closure after my previous experience..
ANY advice/experiences would be appreciated!
