Cervix less then 1cm at 18 weeks!

Perley

I’m only 18+3 weeks pregnant and I’ve been bleeding the last 7 days. I was in the hospital for the 4th time this week to find out the reason for the bleeding. The doctor checked my cervical length and said it was .6 cm and it should be at least 3.5 cm. She wants to start me on progesterone it is supposed to help my cervix stop shortening. I’m thankfully not dilated but this is still very scary. She said my body is going into preterm labor. I’m currently on bed rest and praying for my baby boy. He will be my first child. Anyone have something similar happen and it turned out ok? My doctor also mentioned a cerclage but is unsure if the risks outweigh the benefits.

UPDATE: (19 weeks tomorrow) I finally saw an mfm in Hawaii last night who evaluated me and let me fly home. I saw my ob this morning when I landed and she sent me straight to an mfm by my house. The mfm did more ultrasounds and determined my cervix is about 2 cm so still not great but better then we thought. She would’ve done a cerclage today but I have been heavily bleeding for a week now so she thinks it’s too risky. She upped my progesterone to 200mg a night. She told me that my amniotic fluid is low and she believes my amniotic sac has a hole in it. She thinks the bleeding is from my placenta and is mixing with the fluid. She didn’t have much hope for me to make it to 24 weeks but placed me on strict bed rest and told me to drink a gallon of water a day. She is going to keep monitoring me every week for as long as possible. I’ve been a wreck all day since my appointment and can’t stop crying but I know I must be strong for my baby boy. I’m going to do everything the mfm told me to and pray everyday because that all I can do at this point.
