I wanted to post about something that we had discussed at my job today.

We had a meeting with HR and we discussed about offending people with the comments we make and the ways you can say it. They included, “Hey, not to offend you or anything but....”. I wanted to know about this particular part. I know some people think that people are going to say something offensive when something like that is said, but what if you are truly not being offensive AND just curious BUT don’t know if the other person is going to take offense to what you said so you just throw in that phrase beforehand?

Is it really offensive, if on your part you’re not trying offend anybody? If it’s not something derogatory, but just a curious question?🤔
