Woke up at 9cm!! Long post...
First... I am a huge type A personality. I like lists and organization and most importantly plans! I am a huge planner, and I like things to go according to plan. Well... My little boy had a different idea! 💙
Monday Jan 28 I went for my 38wk doctor appointment. Technically I was 37 weeks and 1 day... So the nurse asked me if I wanted to be checked because it was common practice for them to not check until 38. I opted for the check, doc said I was 3cm 100% effaced and he would be very surprised if I made it to 40 weeks! Obviously I was excited about this because I'm totally over being pregnant at this point!
That night I came home and finished packing my bag and my son's bag, cleaned up the house a little bit, and sat down to relax. I was having some mild back pain but didn't think much of it since I was super pregnant, it wasn't anything out of the normal. I decided to take some Tylenol and call it an early night around 8!
Fast forward to 230am! I woke up to the worst cramps of my life. I thought they were just strong Braxton Hicks because I'd be having them since 30 weeks. When I had a couple pretty quick I decided to time them and call my mom to see what I should do. She told me to wake my husband up and call my doctor because at this point they were 2-3 minutes apart. I called the doc and he told me I should come in and get checked out. So I woke my husband, took a quick shower, shaved my legs, then yelled at my husband for another 20 minutes to hurry the hell up! The man moves so slow!!
We got to the hospital at about 4am. They took me straight to triage where they attempted to get me hooked on to the monitor, while doing that the doc came in and checked me. I was 9cm!!! He told them to forget the monitor I needed to be taken to a delivery room ASAP! In the meantime I am CRYING for an epidural... Begging! The contractions were 2 minutes apart lasting 60-90 seconds!
Everything from there was a whirlwind. They got me to the delivery room, got me on the monitor, got my IV, and all that fun stuff. Still begging for the epidural... The nurse said we had to wait for the lab. What felt like an eternity later the lab finally came followed by the anesthesiologist to finally give me some relief. I don't think I've ever been so excited to see a giant needle in my life!!! I was horrified to get the epidural but the nurse walked me through everything and the anesthesiologist waited until the peak of a contraction to insert it, when I was completely focused on something else. Needless to say I didn't feel it at all!!
They gave the epidural 10 minutes to work before it was time to push! After I pushed for about 10 minutes the doctor told me my baby's heart rate was not cooperating and he was stuck on my pelvic bone so we had to go doe a c section. Definitely not part of my plan, but nothing else has gone according to my plan so why not!!!
They took me to the OR and got me prepped and my beautiful baby boy made his arrival at 6:31am on 1/29. 6lb 12oz, 19 1/2 inches long! I never knew I could love someone as much as I love this child! My husband and I couldn't be happier!
