Introducing food at 4 months?

Question

Has anyone started (or thinking about starting) foods at 4 months? It seems like my LO is starting to show interest when my husband and I are eating.
What are food are you starting with? How are you introducing into your existing feeding schedule? Etc.
I’m going to talk to my pediatrician next week at LO’s 4 month apt.

Also keep in mind showing interest in and even mimicking what you are doing is a normal behavior for a baby and doesn’t actually mean they are interested in the food (just that they are interested in you and what you are doing).
Ultimately though it’s your choice.

I will also add that breastmilk or formula is nutritionally superior at this age to any food you could offer, so make sure you finish your usual feeding of breastmilk/formula first and then offer whichever food afterwards, so it simply compliments their usually feeding. Offering “solids” first will fill them up and cause them to drink less and miss out on some needed nutrition.

My pediatrician just gave me the okay at 4 months. She is sitting by supporting herself for about 2 minutes at a time, has been holding her head steady since 2 months, grabs the food, the thrust reflex is gone, she chews. I always breastfed before I offer the solids. I only offer once a day, at about 7:30. I use pureed baby foods, but also things like real bananas. I would start with things most kids dont like. Green beans, peas, sweet potatoes. You'll know when your baby is ready, and as long as your pediatrician gives the okay it should be fine. But I wouldn't replace a milk meal. Milk is still the number one source of nutrition.
