Best Beds for Newborns?

Question

Pregnant with my first baby and I’ve been going back and forth on what to use right when baby comes home! I’ve debated between bassinets, pack n plays, and rock n plays. We don’t have a ton of extra room in our bedroom.
Just looking for some advice since there are so many options available!

Definitely a pack n play. You can get one that has a bassinet attachment and also a changing table one. Both are helpful if baby is going to be sleeping in your room. Then once you transition baby to it’s own room you will have the pack n play for travel or whatever. So it’s definitely worth the money!

I just got this pack n play that actually comes with a bassinet included. I love it. Baby isn’t here yet, but I set it up (needed to make sure everything was in the box) and it looks like it’s going to be very convenient for our small space.

I'm doing a pack and play with the bassinet and changer attachments in our bedroom. I'm on a budget and wanted something I could use longer than 3 months when he grows out of it, and something portable for trips to grandma's house. I asked the nurse at my birthing class and she said it was a safe option. We got it new at Walmart for around $75. The brand is Ingenuity. Always check online price against in store pricing. I'm buying a second-hand rock and play for when I need my hands free to do the dishes and can have that anywhere with me where I can still keep an eye on him. I understand there is a concern with babies sleeping in these unsupervised. I see them on marketplace or offerup all the time from $20-40 depending on the features and the fabric is washable so I'm not squeamish about buying it from someone else. We got a solid wood crib at a yard sale for $40. It's important to me that my baby has his actual crib in his nursery for daytime naps because I want him to start getting used to it his first month and my husband works nights and sleeps during the day so I need a place to put baby down that's not in our bedroom. We live in a small space too so I understand what you're going thru with all these choices. You might also look at mini cribs if your bedroom is too small for a pack and play, and it looks like a lot of those fold up nicely when you're not using them.

Our daughter slept in her Halo Bassinet until she was three months old.👌🏾 We had the Luxe Plus and we love it! It was as if she was in bed with us and it made those night nursing sessions so easy. My husband was on diaper duty at night so it made it easier for him as well. By the time she was three months, she had started to outgrow it. She had also stopped waking up to be nursed at that point, but we were not ready for her to sleep in her nursery just yet. We started using one of her pack-n-plays as a co-sleeper. After six months, we put her in her crib in her nursery. We had a Rock-n-play, but we never allowed her to sleep in it. We only wanted her to sleep and nap on flat surfaces. We never even allowed her to nap in her swings, bouncer, mamaroo, glider, etc. She only napped and slept in her bassinet, Pack-n-plays, Dockatot (only napping, no overnight sleeping), SnuggleMe, Snuggle Nest, and crib (after six months). Some mother's allow their babies to sleep in Rock-n-plays. I have heard it is great for babies with reflux, but idk.🤷🏾‍♀️

I looked into every possibility and eventually went with the pack n play! It’s got everything we need and everyone convinced me a bassinet would be a waste of space and money. This was $139 at Target and will be set up in our room when little man arrives.

Rock n plays aren't recommended for safe sleep. Pack n plays are good especially if you get the one with the bassinet/changing table combo but can take up a lot of room. We are registered for the Arms reach co sleeper bassinet and then hes going into his crib in the nursery. It just depends on what you're looking for and how much room you have :)
