What would/do you do for child care and work?

For newborns what would/did/do you do for child care with work? Like once the babies born did you quit work or immediately go back and pay for child care. Which do you prefer for the newborn stage?

We worked different shifts when my son was a newborn. It was great that we were able to both work and be home with the baby and not have him in daycare.

My daughter is due 3/22/19 I will take 8 weeks off work, my husband will take 2 weeks off and she will go full time into daycare. M-F 7am-5pm. 
Would I love to stay home with her, yes. But I believe every persons circumstances are different.

For me, choosing to have babies means choosing to be home with them. We make sacrifices for that to happen, but I believe it’s completely worth it. There’s no job more important in my eyes.

I’ve stopped working midway through each pregnancy and stayed home for the first year-year and a half and worked between kids. I would recommend it if it’s possible for your family because those moments are truly the best.

When i was pregnant I wanted to keep working I had a good place at my job and wanted to keep it, plus having 2 incomes coming in household was great. In my head I knew it was the right thing to do, but once I put it all on paper  basically I was working for my child to be at day care (3 days a week for 30 hrs 180$ a wk) instead of it going towards bills or him. When i was on maternity leave for 14 weeks, I got too attached to my son that I didn't want anyone that I didn't know to watch him. So my husband and i sat down and discuss it towards each other our little one will learned more from their mother and I will teach him the way we want them to be teach. Don't get me wrong a few day- cares has learning activities it was just too much for us. So I decided to be a stay-at-home-mom and it was been the BEST decision I have every made. If you can do it do it. We can 😍 Every family decision is different compare to everybody else. Have to do what is best for you and your family!

I have always been one to want to stay home with my child if we could afford to do so when the time comes to choose. BUT, now that I am working in a daycare, in the infant rooms of 8 week olds to 12 months olds. I see the benefits of the socializing. Even though it might not seem like it would make a difference, it does. Babies feed off of each other to help build their individual milestones. I have also seen when a baby starts later like 9 months old they have a very hard time adjusting to the new environment due to stranger danger starts at that time. Daycare has lots of good pros about it but does have the cons side of things as well. Like the sickness.

I’m on maternity leave for 1 year then going back to work part time - weekends only. That way hubby can watch our son on weekends.

I am a SAHM/WAHM.👌🏾 Newborns should be cared for by their parents (of course that is if the parents can afford to stay home)! I was an elementary teacher for almost six years. When my maternity leave started, my husband and I decided it would be best if I just stayed home. The original plan was to stay out of work for the rest of the school year (it would have been nine months including summer break) and then hire a nanny for childcare since we live away from both our families. However, we could not fathom the thought of a stranger caring for our baby girl.🤷🏾‍♀️ My husband makes a lot of money so it was really a no-brainer to stay home. We knew we would be good financially because my income was not needed at all. Not to mention, I have a trust fund. After a few months, I started to miss being a teacher, but I was NOT about to leave my baby girl in the care of a stranger. So I decided to start an Education Consulting Business from home. I LOVE my business. I feel I get the best of both worlds, I get to be with my baby girl while continuing my career as an educator.👌🏾 I also make more money from my business than I did as teacher. I made six figures last year, something I never would have made as a teacher. I still do not make as much as my husband does, but it's great. Also, I believe being a SAHM/WAHM really helped my breastfeeding and pumping journey. There is no way I could have had a consistent nursing and pumping schedule as a teacher. I am not saying this to shame working mothers because people have to do what is best for them. Caring for my baby girl MYSELF is best for me. There is nothing like experiencing her milestones myself and not having to look at pictures or videos of my baby girl doing something new. I made the best decision for us!👍🏾

I am staying home for first 3 months and then my husband will be off for the next 2 months (his summer break). When he goes back to work in the fall she will go to day care.

I was home with my daughter for 13 weeks, then she was with my mom for 2 weeks & my sister for 1 weeks. She’s been in daycare ever since, she’ll be 2 in May
