Mucus plug? (Not TMI)

Question

I’m a little confused on how exactly you can lose your mucus plug. Will it just “wipe” out like discharge? Or could it fall out while peeing? Or both? Or neither? I feel lost on this topic.

I watched this very helpful video on you tube from a doctor,and it made me understand the term so much more.
This is what he said:

The mucus plug isnt really a mucus plug,what happens,as you start getting closer to delivery the cervix starts thinning out.
As it starts thinning out,it starts making more discharge (cervical discharge is more mucusy snotty looking).
And alot of times what will happen is that your discharge starts to change at the end of pregnancy and you'll start having a mucusy discharge,allmost like you have a bad runny nose,thats normal.
Sometimes the mucus will start building up in the back of the vagina,and instead of just coming out,it just sits back there.
And then,sort off critical mass happens and this big chunk of stuff comes out all at once.
And it looks like a big old plug,and thats where the term "mucus plug" comes from.
Its not a cork that sits in the cervix,which alot of people think,people think theres this plug in the cervix and when that comes out,oh oh its coming,its not really thats,its more of just this mucusy discharge that tended to ball up and come out

I never lost mine with my 1st & i am due tomorrow & yet to lose this one. Everyone's different x

It can be like either of those scenarios, it’s also normal to not lose it at all! I began getting small chunks of it in toilet paper when I wiped during my first pregnancy from 36 weeks onwards. I was induced at 42 weeks and properly lost it during labour, it was in my underwear and it was huge! I’ve had small chunks wipe loose this pregnancy but currently 39+4 and haven’t lost too much yet.
