Missed Miscarriage

so i had my 12 week scan and the bub didn’t have a heart beat and stopped growing at 7 weeks and my body still continued to think i was pregnant that’s why i didn’t know. but my question is is when did everyone start to bleed afterwards? i’ve been told to wait two weeks and i don’t start bleeding i’ll have to have a D&C.
