We had planned for induction at 37 weeks which would have been March 10th. At my last growth ultrasound March 8th (baby has Gastroschisis) they notice the bowel was becoming dilated along with the belly. So they decided to do induction that day. Anxiety began to go thru the roof with concerns.
Began induction at 11:30am. Started with the pill to ripen cervix. When they checked me before placing the pill I was 3cm and 60 efaced -3 station. 4 hours with the pill and contractions were becoming steady and tolerable. I noticed like my 1st induction with my son I was having back labor 😭😭😭
4 hours later getting checked to see if I would need another dose to ripen cervix or start Pitocin. I was about a 4 1/2 cm 70 efaced. Jumped right into Pitocin. Contractions came in like a wreck in ball! Breathing through them like a champ might I say. Nurse that came to take over was very shocked I waited about 2 hour and not being able to talk and in tears to ask for epidural around 9:30pm.
Epidural kicked in and doctor broke my water. I was think a nap. Baby girl had other plans. I was placed on my right side for a while and switched to my left when I felt pressure. Pressure went away after the switch and nurse left. No more than 5 minutes later the pressure was steady. I dilated from a 5cm to a 10 in an hour.
Baby Anais was born at 11:29pm on National Woman’s Day! She went down to NICU on a cpap. This morning they removed Cpap because she was breathing on her own and very uncomfortable with it on. Tomorrow they will begin the process to put her bowl back inside. Praying to have the surgery to close her up next week. It’s going to be one hell of a journey but I’m happy she is doing so well other wise.
Here is a quick update: on day 2 she got an ecoli infection. She had to be put on a ventilator. She has had multiple surgeries to do a wash out of her bowel. At one point they were taking about dialysis and ECMO. Which are both very life threatening for a baby. We were told that she may not make it. Her Latic acid was dangerously high. She developed Pulmary Hypertention. They ended up pulling out two parts of her bowel and putting a vacuum over her belly. From there her belly began to swell and her breathing became harder. She was rushed to another surgery to see what was causing the swelling. They took the vacuum off and just been putting a dressing over her exposed bowel. And she had to be placed in a oscillator. She was placed on that March 31. Maybe two weeks after she improved. Her lactic and white blood count returned to normal. She was removed from oscillator and placed on a conventional ventilator. She has improved tremendously. Her gases have been great. Breathing a room air. Placed on CPap about a week ago. Turned off her nitric this morning and will do a repeat eco. Hoping to get her off CPap! Surgery to finish closing will hopefully happen at end of month,
