Feeding
I’m at a loss on what to do.
My daughter is 2 weeks old today.
She’s on the breast ALL THE TIME! When I put her on, she will suck for not even a minute before falling asleep. I have to keep waking her to keep her sucking. She sucks for 5 minutes total during a 1 hour period of trying to feed her. Then she will sleep for a max of 30 minutes before waking up, screaming because she’s starving (I’ve ruled out wind).
So, it’s a repetitive process.
The problem is, I have an 18 month old that also needs my attention, and a household to maintain (cook mainly - cleaning can wait!), so I can’t afford to be sitting on the couch all day, trying to get my baby to drink.
Does anyone have any tips? I’ve also tried exclusively expressing, but I can only get 120ml per sitting (and that’s what she drinks - if not more). I have an Avent Electric pump that’s almost 2yrs old. I used that 15 minutes on each side to get 120ml (after 3 minutes, nothing comes out of my breasts). But then when I would massage my breasts and hand express, I could easily get another 100ml or more. So even a good breast pump recommendation?
