me and this guy (lets call him nick) have been best friends for a few months now. we’ve actually known each other since elementary school, and have stayed pretty good friends since then. he’s liked me on and off throughout the years and i always brushed it off & never really showed any signs of reciprocating.

but the past few months we’ve hung out a lot more, to the point where we are self proclaimed best friends and hang out almost every day.

he had a girlfriend he was dating steadily for around 8 months, but they had been fighting for a few weeks and they broke up a week ago.

in the past couple weeks nick has been weird. he’s complimenting me a lot more, offering to pay for my food, putting his arm around me, putting his head on my shoulder, and just being a littleeeeee too nice (ladies you know what i mean, we can just sense it!). we were in his room watching movies last night on his bed and he put his arm around me and pulled me closer until we were spooning! ahh D:

He’s a great guy and my best friend, but I don’t like him like that. Is there any way I can save this friendship without it being super awkward? help!

edit: in hindsight i realized that probably the only reason he and i were able to become such good friends was because he had a girlfriend, so i never had to be concerned about him liking me. but now that she’s gone, yikes 😦😩
