Early induction?

So I heard from a friend who just found out she’s expecting her second baby that her doctor said she could choose to be induced as early as 38 weeks simply for the fact that it’s her second baby, not for any medical reasons.  I have never heard this before anywhere and was just curious if anyone else has been told this or has heard of this? It seems strange to me that any doctor would tell you you can be induced early just because you want to and not for medical reasons, but maybe it’s more common than I think?

Unless medically necessary, induction is not the way to go! I'd like to avoid it at all costs, personally.

Don’t get induction! The pain is being forced onto your body. Try to go the most natural route as possible.

I’ll likely have my repeat csection at 38+6 or 39 but have always been told most insurances won’t cover it if you electively choose earlier than that..

I was offered a sweep at 39 weeks for my second. But my doctors dont induce until 41 weeks unless medically necessary

My doctor will not induce me for “no reason” until I’m 39 weeks. I’m choosing induction if possible because I have two small children I have to get to grandmas house and I have super quick labors so I have a serious time crunch if this happens naturally.

I don’t think there is any illegal bout inducing if your body is ready I will likely be induced at 37/38 weeks due to hip problems but it’s by choice not mandatory

My dr offered to induce me at 37 weeks with my first baby. She said she saw I was going through hell, baby was big enough and healthy enough to come early. I declined cause I know inductions hurt wayyy more than your body going into labor on its own and usually results in a csection. But she could be telling the truth. Some drs will allow it as long as the hospital they are affiliated with doesn’t have rules against it.

I was induced at 39 with my first and then 41+4 with my second (who ended up being 10lbs so they should’ve done it sooner) 
This time around my dr said he wants to induce me at 39 to avoid any weight problems.
Pretty sure unless medically necessary, drs can’t induce before 39 weeks.

Never heard of it! My 2nd was 41 + 2 and this is my 3rd and I’m not being offered an early induction either 🤔
