Iud in 9 hours (updated post-appointment)
Here’s my story so far: February 27 I went in for an appointment with a new obgyn to talk about getting an iud because of my history of missing periods she wanted to do some blood work to test for a few things common with pcos and she started me on medroxyprogesterone to induce a period. I found out the next day I’m insulin resistant (most likely because of pcos). I stopped taking the medication on March 5 and 4 days later I had a period and then today (March 11) I called to schedule my appointment which they gave me right away in the morning of March 12. My appointment is 9 hours from now. Since we forced my period I’ve had cramps and back pain every day so I’m hoping that the insertion won’t make it too much worse. I’m having a hard time getting to sleep because of my anxiety but I’m hopeful everything will go well. I will update after my appointment. Also any well wishes are appreciated.
Update:
I just got home from my appointment and it was very fast but it wasn’t without discomfort. I knew to expect anything from no pain to very painful just from others experiences. I will say my experience was quite painful. When she stabilized my cervix and told me I might feel cramping I wanted to cry. Now I’m just laying on my couch after just taking some pain killers. Hopefully the cramping goes down pretty quick. And I will say It all was way worth it!
