Moms with babies under 1 - Do you keep the video monitor screen on at night?

Moms with babies under 1 who sleep in different rooms...do you keep the monitor screen on all night long, or do you only turn it on when you hear baby crying?

Our daughter is almost 2. We still use her monitor and it' on all night. It makes no sense to me to have to turn it on every time my child makes a peep.

I live in a VERY small house and his room is right beside mine and I still have the video monitor on and the volume on all night.

Ours goes into sleep mode when the nursery is quiet and turns on when it detects a sound. The screens are so bright, even on the lowest setting. I can’t imagine having it lit up all night.

We don’t even have our monitor set up and it doesn’t have a video. Our home is small and we can and always could easily hear our baby

We have the nanit and it sends notifications to our phone and Apple Watch whenever their is sound or excessive movement. So we turn off the screen and also have the background noise on. We can hear him, plus receive notifications! I highly recommend the Nanit, it has fantastic night vision and cool analytics it gives you about their sleep progress!

I thought you meant them monitor itself on not the screen. No we didntt keep the screen on all night but did have the volume up to hear.

I can hear them without the monitor as they are in the next room to us. My monitor is in the kitchen mainly used during the day time. Also by time they are a year you should be pretty good at deciphering their cries and not need to use a screen all night. Maybe only if they wake up crying🤷‍♀️? 
I’m a pretty relaxed person though so I’m not sure if maybe a screen would bring someone more comfort?
