Induction turned c-section
Finally my turn to share! I was induced on March 12 th, 11 days after my due date. Got to the hospital at 730 am that morning, they placed gel and then started me walking to try and get things going. After about 2 hours doctor checked me and stretched me to 3 cm dialated (ouchie ouch!) They then started me on pitocin, and let me tell you, those contractions are no joke. I made it to 5cm before asking for the epidural at 4pm. My anesthesiologist was amazing, and the epidural was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The worst part for me is when he was poking my spine looking for the placement (I'm very ticklish). That's when everything really kind of stopped and started all at once. They were able to angle my bed so that gravity could still help, but I stopped dialating at 5cm, and baby just wasn't tolerating the pitocin at a high enough level it would help. So the decision was made around 11pm to do a section. Not one taken lightly as my hospital only has a 20% csection rate. Turns out baby boy was angled very poorly and would not have been able to turn himself to a better position that would have allowed him deeper into the birth canal. When they pulled him out of me I heard several people declare how big he was (weighed 9 lbs 10 oz, 22.5 inches). While I definitely had hoped to avoid the c section, my team and husband were amazing! Recovery is slow going, but it's getting better hour by hour. And of course it was all worth it to meet my (not so) little man, Henry Matthew on 3/13/19!
