Induction experience?

This post is more aimed at the ladies who needed to be induced with their first baby for being overdue. How was your experience and how long did it take from start to finish to dilate completely? Also, how much were you dilated before getting induced? I might have to be induced next week - I'll be 41 + 2, because this baby is just not having it! I've been doing EVERYTHING to get labor going naturally and I'm scared of the implications it will have on my babe if we wait too long past my DD.

I got induced at 41w. I was 50% effaced and 0cm dilated. I got oral cervical ripening agents for 2 days. After 2 days I was finally at 1cm and eligible for pitocin. I was on pitocin a very short time before the contractions started heavy and with no break. It took me about 8 hours to dilate to a 5 and be eligible for an epidural, which I took. For the 8 hrs prior I labored in the bathtub and took gas and air to help (it didn't). About 8 hours after I was ready to push. I pushed for 4 hours and baby was in distress so I ended up with an emergency c section. So about 20 hours from onset of pitocin to C section birth, and 3 days from onset of induction to birth.

I went in at 41+1 at night already 2 cm. They started pitocin at like 3 am because they were really busy. I didn't feel anything really til they broke my water at 9am. The contractions were really on top of each other and intense so I got the epidural a few hours later and managed to rest. Then at 41+3 he was born at 2 am. All in all it wasn't terrible.

I was induced at 40+2 with my first.  I believe that I had been at a 2 or 3 for a couple weeks at that point.  Went in at 7 pm, and had the cervidil put in by 9pm and was told they’d take it out after 12 hours. After 9 hours they came to remove it because I had started to contract on my own. They asked if I wanted to walk the halls at that time because once they hooked up the potocin, I would be restricted to the bed and I took them up on the offer. My daughter was born at 3 pm that day after about 40 minutes of pushing.

I didn’t dilate at all before my first. Got induced starting with cervadil or whatever that pill is called then moved on to pitocin. Took about 23 hours start to finish but ended in an emergency c section or it would have taken even longer

I was induced at 39+2 due to oligohydramnios. I got admitted to the hospital about 1pm-ish.  I had three doses of cytotec, two administered on the cervix (hurt like a bitch, by the way), and the last one was orally taken, at 4 hr intervals.
Before I was admitted, I was 1.5-2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. The first two doses didn’t progress me at all, and the third dose really ramped things up. Went from a 2ish to a 3, and then a 3 to a 4, and started pitocin around 6am. Went from a 4 to an 8 when I was checked at 8:15, and was fully dilated at 8:30.
Delivered a healthy baby at 9:07am.
So the whole thing took about 18-19 hours start to finish.

I was induced at 41+3 with my first. They started with the cervadil, I was 1cm dilated when they put that in. I began feeling contractions that evening, they felt like bad period pains. By the next morning they were quite strong. They checked me and I was 4cms. I was told once there was a spot in L&D I could go down and get my waters broken. I carried on contracting that day, contractions were sporadic but strong. Unfortunately it was mega busy in the hospital at that time and I never got down to L&D that day. The next morning (almost 48 hours after induction began) my contractions were almost unbearable. I was 8cms. I finally got down to L&D just before lunch time. I had my waters broken and pitocin started as my contractions were all over the place - I’d have 3 in 5 minutes and then wouldn’t have one for 15 mins. Was so frustrating. I began pushing about 5pm after they’d really ramped up my pitocin. Three hours later and I was making no progress as my daughter was facing the wrong way (posterior). They were going to do a c section but thankfully tried the venteuse first which worked. My daughter was born at 9pm. I’m currently 40+2 and hoping like hell I don’t need another induction!! Although my experience was bad because of how busy the hospital was and how my daughter was positioned, not really because of the induction itself. Good luck!!
