Diagnosed with PCOS
Hello everyone,
So as the title says, today I was diagnosed with PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome). It was a a surprise, but also not a surprise if that makes sense. I have always had 1-2 periods a year, got incredible weight gain after highschool, started period late in life(I think I was 16/17 yes old). A lot of the "normal" symptoms they list are ones I have and never even heard of this until my best friend was diagnosed with it last year. So anyways, today my doctor called me and informed me of my blood work that I had done last week; and then I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have to admit I did start crying cause I was praying that the irregular periods was just a fluke.....but no. She perscribed Metformin for me to try out, and my husband and I are seeing a specialist to get a second opinion. Does anyone have PCOS that has been on Metformin, and what we're the side effects they got? Did it help get you pregnant? My husband and I are wanting to have our first child, but this is a mucky wrench into our whole plan......thank you for all the tips and advice!!!!
