Car Seat Canopy?

At first I really thought it was a good idea but then I heard someone say they’re not considered safe, what do you guys think? Do you use one?

Here’s the deal. We loved ours! They are absolutely safe to block out cold air and wind!!! They are NOT SAFE when no air is allowed to circulate or it is too warm (doesn’t need to be hot, think about a car) and a parent leaves their child covered and temperatures spike inside there unbeknownst to the parent. That is the worry. They are constantly misused unfortunately

They are safe if you use them while the seat is not in the car like when you go shopping and put the seat with the baby in it on the cart. But while in a moving car its unsafe.

Absolutely not. Covering a car seat and/or stroller makes co2 and heat build up, and it restricts airflow. On top of not being able to see how baby holds the hear. Co2 sink so a small hole on the top will not help. And “breathable” types will still trap heat and co2. If you ever have used a crocheted granny square blanket toy will know that even things with rather large holes will hold heat. And like already mentioned it doesn’t even need to be significantly warm for the heat to spike, in fact it can easily become 10-12c hotter in a covered seat in just 10minutes. 
Where I live there is huge warnings on every pediatric nurse stations about not covering the stroller/car seat.

These aren't safe in any way. They trap in CO2 and heat which is incredibly dangerous.

We had one of the coldest February’s in history where I am and it would have been unsafe not to use something just to get from the car to inside, we got the skip hop one and never fully covered it. If we weren’t outside I unzipped it completely and clipped it safely aside. I didn’t want to use one at all but my little one ended up needing to go to many specialist appointment and the weather was extreme. I agree they aren’t safe, if you live somewhere with mild weather and there’s no real reason to use one then skip it!

I just use a baby blanket tucked under the handle that I can flip down when I take my baby outside. With the extremely cold winters we have here in Michigan I wanted to save her little face as much as possible

our car seat already had a built in canopy! Its called the dream drape feature on the nuna pipa lx 😊 completely safe! I'd never put like a thick blanket over a car seat though I see people do it all the time :/
