You don’t need to do it at all. Stretchmarks are genetic. Nothing you do or don’t do will prevent them and nothing penetrates deep enough into your skin where stretchmarks occur to even help. 
If the oil is reducing itchiness and some pain for you, then sure! If you feel like it helps you and you like it then sure! I still like rubbing oatmeal lotion on my skin every since I was pregnant the first time because I had really painful stretchmarks. The coolness and moisture did alleviate some pain! And I have continued all post partum and all this pregnancy as well because it’s been helping with some itchiness. But it’s also been a dry winter so it may just be that my skin is dry and itchy. I don’t notice any new stretchmarks this pregnancy.

I didn’t get a single stretch mark UNTIL my son came out & my stomach started to shrink 
1 deep one smack dab on my stomach grew within hours - they’re not preventative but yes oils and lotions reduce the itching
