Std? Should I stick around?

So I’ve been talking to this guy for a few weeks and yesterday we finally went on our first date and honestly we clicked right away. He’s such an amazing guy, we had soo much fun, I haven’t felt like that in a while but today he said he needed to talk. Turns out he has herpes, I was shockeddd. Idk how I feel about it, Im scared. I told him I appreciate his honesty but I dont think I can do it, we can still be friends tho. He said he understands but he wants a relationship and I dont “seem to want the baggage he brings” so he dont think we can be friends. And Im lowkey upset. The one guy I actually guy turns out has an std. I dont what to do, please help!

... it took that man more guts than you could ever imagine, to tell you upfront that he has hsv. Most people that have it don’t know, and if they do know, they can’t be human enough to tell their partners. He doesn’t want to be your friend, so stop wasting his time.

have you done any research on herpes? i recently got the virus about a year ago and i dont think it makes you any different to a person who doesnt have it, like he hasnt changed at all its just that one thing. like i think if you really like someone you shouldnt not give it a go because they have herpes (thats just my opinion though, i know its scary because there are risks for yourself). coming from my point of view i only ever slept with 2 people, 1 being my boyfriend and 3 years and the other i dated for a while and thats who i contracted it off. but i wasnt told he had it. so i was very unlucky and now i have to live with it. he has done the best thing by telling you and now he is being rejected (i am trying not to sound mean hahahah). sorry its just i feel sorry for him because i dont sleep around and i feel like when its like known you have herpes everyone thinks you’re gross. its actually Soooooooooo common but no one does their research. give the guy a chance. you just have to make sure you’re safe and he isnt sleeping with you if he has an outbreak. i dont want to make that decision for you though but being in his situation im so upset for him because i dread the day i have to tell someone because i fear this exact situation.

I don’t blame him tbh u don’t like him that much u turned him down there is nothing else to talk about u liked him a lot UNTIL he told u that. Do some research first it’s really not that big a deal.

Be thankful he told you and is aware of his status. 
90% of the population have one or both types of herpes and  80% of the population don't know they have herpes because they are silent carriers and standard std testing does not include HSV testing
