So pretty much exactly what it says in the title. I'm low key scared of my downstairs neighbors and idk what to do about it.

I live in an apartment complex on the second floor and when we first moved in a family lived below us with 2 children. They were pretty quiet we only heard them once the entire time they were there and it wasnt anything horrible. They moved out a few months later and we had no one living downstairs.

Because of that we would play music here and there, nothing crazy loud but just while we were cleaning we would put on some background noise. When the office pays would show our apartment I guess she could hear the music but said she didnt care cause no one was living there yet. Our new neighbors (3 adults) moved in in January and things just started getting intense. We lowered the music cause we didnt want to be annoying to the new neighbors but I guess they could still hear through the walls so they complained about it so we turned it down again. Now we could also hear everything from downstairs even them just talking to each other sometimes idk if they're talking loud or just talking. We stopped playing music and in the beginning of February I was in the hospital having my baby for a week. That week my SO was with me only going home to shower and take our dog out and then returning right after but here goes again, they complained again.

This being said after the first complaint I had told her we had completely lowered the music anyway but she said shes going to believe them because she was able to hear it those other days that she came in when she was showing the place so I couldnt possibly try to argue.

After I came back from the hospital we hadn't played the music the entire week I was back or the week after and I got a note saying theres a second complaint and if we dont respond about how we will fix it the complex is going to take action. I sent a response and then my own formal complaint about the neighbors about them slamming the doors screaming sometimes at one another and constantly with their volume on their TV at all hours (4 AM included.)

Nothing came from this complaint I believe as I never heard back. This was 3 weeks ago.

The man that lives here always talks to us with a smile like nothing has happened so I'm not sure if he knows about it. Hes living here with another woman and her I've barely seen around. But then theres another lady maybe 40s who's apparently a teacher and shes the one who keeps making these complaints.

They're always making alot of noise downstairs and it's been sounding scarier day by day.

Today the man wasnt home but the older woman was and in the morning we heard her talking very loudly to I believe the younger woman and then slamming things around in the kitchen. Later this afternoon she walks into the staircase literally slamming the front door very loud where we can feel the apartment shake. She did this about 6 times in 10 minutes and only left the apartment one time. I also got a call from the office about an hour earlier and to be honest I dont feel comfortable talking to her so I didnt answer but I'm worried it's to inform me of another complaint. Our lease is up in July and we are definitely leaving then but I have no idea what to do until then with these neighbors.

We have had many people ringing our doorbell when it was for them instead including policemen and I just feel very uncomfortable especially with our newborn. I'm not sure what to do I dont trust that the lady in the office will take me seriously as she mentioned she really liked the lady downstairs. I was close to calling the police tonight but she had stopped after we went to check.

It's just adding to my anxiety and stress though.
