What is PMDD?

Hi, I’m here because I think I have PMDD. Could anyone give me a brief explanation on what PMDD is???
I think I have PMDD because I’m always extremely depressed and I sometimes attempt suicide and harm myself about a week or so before my period. What do you guys think?? :)

Hi there- your second paragraph is what I feel for about 2 weeks of every month. I have been experiencing this for about 12 years and tracking it for 7 years. It starts when I ovulate and doesn’t end until a day or so into my period. It’s debilitating. I am currently on leave from work because my depression got so bad. I get angry, irritable, severely depressed, tired, hopeless and have suicidal I thoughts. And then I get my period and am happy again. It makes me feel more than crazy. I also get very angry and always find something to target it at (my boyfriend, his kids, my job, money, etc - every month is a different roller coaster of the same thing). 
I see two doctors for it. A psychiatrist and recently I got a new GYN who is also an endocrinologist. I feel hopeless to have to live with this for half my month, every month, but am really hoping my new GYN can prescribe me something right to help.
Everyone is a bit different though. Find a good doctor if you are feeling bad. Someone who will test your hormones (I was denied a few times until this doctor). Track your emotions and cycle close. Your temperature too. ♥️
