SIL accidentally took my girl name?

Question

My sister in law just had a beautiful baby girl, named her Anne. I’m trying to hard to be happy for her but my solid, go-to girl name was Anna. And this is after I had to axe my other longtime favorite girl name of Laila (because my other niece is named Lyla 😑). AND my other niece is a double name that starts with Mary, so I can’t ever use that name either.
I hate that I’m so bummed but I feel like I’m back to the drawing board on names. I hate modern/trendy/popular names and love simple timeless names that can be easily paired. I guess this is part of the problem of having a husband with so many siblings AND that have already had a lot of kids (ours will be number 10). 
I feel like I would be a terrible person if I named my future baby girl Anna, but I’ve had this name set for a few years because my great grandmothers name was Mabel and my husband and I thought “anna Mae” would be a cute name. Is this too close to Anne or could we still make it work?

I think Anna Mae is so cute. What about something like Annabelle or Annalise? Both are classic names. I love classic names too and for my girls I used Allison Catherine, Emily Elizabeth, Olivia Grace, Annabelle Elise and this baby is going to be Evelyn Rose.

I totally understand how you feel. My girl name since the dawn of time has been Anne. When I found out my SIL was pregnant with a girl- I told her and her face literally fell. Her girl name since the dawn of time was Anna. I now have a niece Anna Grace. It took me a while to get over it. My whole family told me it would be ok to name a girl Anne still, but I didnt believe them. Its truely a non-issue as I'm pregnant with my 2nd boy. Sorry your favorite names have been used by close family. I know I wouldn't use them personally, but everyone is different. I hope you can find a different name you love.

I wanted to name my daughter Olivia Scott, but my sister named my nephew Oliver Scott. At first I was really bummed, but now we have decided to go with Juliette Scott, Jules, for short and I love it!

I feel your pain! I have a Keeghan & my SIL named her son Keaton 6 months apart, same town. To this day they get mixed up 15yrs later with teachers (same school, same grade).

I was going to name my baby girl Abilene Jay, but we went with something different and that was our go to name for years!

I think it will be fine for you to still use it. We have allie, maddi, and now I'm naming my daughter milli. Our family does fine with it. Names get hard in my family as there is 15 grand kids for my parents and they are all girls.
