Birth Control after baby

I’m 5 months pp and we do not want anymore kids. So I’d like to get birth control but not sure which one is best.

Prior to pregnancy I had the depo (around 6 years ago). It gave me severe migraines with aura and I bled for 11 months straight. I got really sick. So i switched to the merina iud at my doctors suggestion. She said going off cold turkey might make everything worse.

I had the merina for almost 4 years and then had it taken out when we wanted to ttc. I had struggled with chronic migraine the entire time. Most months I had a migraine with or without aura or vision loss for 25-26 days every month. Within 2 months of having the IUD removed they dramatically improved.

They continued to improve to having migraines for only about a week per month until I got pregnant when they went away entirely. I think I only had 2-3 migraines while pregnant and they only lasted a day or so each.

I’m now 5 months pp and I really don’t want to get pregnant again but I’m so scared of having migraines again. I can’t imagine taking care of my baby when she’s screaming and having one.

If you have migraines are you on birth control? Which ones are best for someone with my history?
