Moving on .......

So I live in nyc and got 2500 in my bank account . I have been looking for apartments for the last 6 months and haven’t gotten anywhere . Everybody tells me I either make too little or the apartment is too small for a family of 3 . Has anyone gotten up and left the state they were in to search for a better opportunity to live ? I wanna relocate somewhere like Charlotte or Orlando and don’t know which is best ! . Honestly just worried because all I want is an apartment so my child can have a roof to lay under . Tips ?...?
