Breastfeeding and birth control

Any breastfeeding mamas switch to a less breastfeeding-friendly birth control after the first year since your milk isn’t the main nutrition anymore?

I’m getting my IUD out next week because I’ve had weight gain issues since I got it. I tried the mini pill before that but I was always bleeding. We’re not ready for another baby but hubby understandably doesn’t want to use condoms so I need something.

I never had issues when I was on a regular birth control pill so I’m wondering if I’d be able to use that again but still have my daughter breastfeed since I don’t have to worry as much about my supply. Anyone do this and still be able to keep breastfeeding past a year?
