Had sex and a gush of blood came out during sex. I’m 17 weeks. Has that ever happened to anyone?

I’ve spotted before during or after sex but this time it was a lot. And when I used the restroom I noticed small clots. I have a fetal Doppler and everything seems to be ok with baby. But I’m freaking out. I’m definitely calling my doctor tomorrow morning. Just wondering if it’s happened to anyone?

I noticed your 16 week post. I think if you’re bleeding during sex every time I’d probably avoid sex altogether for awhile. Easier said than done but can take a lot of stress off of you

Okay I went to the obgyn! Everything looks good. He said some women just bleed more than others. But nothing looks out of the ordinary, baby’s heartbeat is good and baby was moving 😅🙂

It happens to me almost every time I have sex. Your cervix is just sensitive! Definitely call though. If it continues, then go to the ER. It’s annoying and worrisome but should just be your cervix

You may have a placenta previa. They will need to look at your ultrasound to make sure the placenta is nowhere near the cervix. That being said, I had a similar experience within a couple of days after sex at that stage and they never did find a reason. No restrictions were given, and it hasn't happened since. I was glad they ruled out a previa though.

Not to be crude, but was it rough or deep? The cervix is very vascular right now and if hit hard enough, will bleed. I had a little scare a few weeks ago and my doctor told me it was due to that. Check with yours to be sure though.

I suggest talking to your doctor. Although it sucks, you might be told to hold off on sex for a while. Since your cervix has more blood flow and is sensitive, it's likely just irritation. But the gush of blood could signify something else. I have a cervical polyp that bleeds significantly after sex, but I was diagnosed with it at 7w and it will stay with me the entire pregnancy so my doctor said that bleeding after sex for me will be common.
