Are boys bigger than girls?

My son was 7lb3oz and somehow he managed to get stuck in my pelvis and I required a c-section. Now I’m pregnant with a girl and I’m wondering if girls are usually smaller than boys at birth, or if it doesn’t make a difference? I’m hoping for a VBAC.

If you have a boy and a girl, what has been your experience with height/weight of the different sexes?

7 pounds 3 oz is not big at all! Maybe you just have a small pelvis? My boy was 7 lbs 14oz! I thought that was a decent size! Not too big, not too small!

My second was half a kilo heavier than my first. I’ve got a boy, then a girl. But it sounds like it may have not been the size that was the issue since people with much larger babies have delivered vaginally

My daughter was born 37 weeks at 5lbs 15 oz. My son was also born at 37 weeks 6 lbs 9 oz. both around 19” long. Lol She had a two vessel cord and his was normal. I think that’s the only reason he was a little bigger.

My first was 9lbs and my second was 8lbs. Both boys, and both vaginal.

My son was 7lbs 2.5oz at 9 days late, my daughter was 2 days late and 7lbs 5oz! My midwife told me you tend to deliver babies at a similar kind of size, so will likely be roughly in the same weight range. I imagine your son might have been in an awkward position when you were in labour rather than it having anything to do with his size, that’s not a big baby ☺️

I think it has less to do with the gender of the baby and more to do with what number the baby is for the mom and how old the mom is. The older the mom is and the more babies she'd had, the bigger the baby tend to get.

My girl was 7lb 4 and 51cm, my boy 9lbs2 and 53cm. I believe it has somewhat more to do with the position of baby of how the labor will go

I don’t think this is true. I think it’s just based on your body and baby, and your family history. I was born at 8 lbs 12 oz, and all my cousins (males included) weighed 7 lbs and change or less. I’m pregnant with a second girl, and I can guarantee that she’s going to be bigger than my first, and my first was 7 lbs 11 oz.
