Amniotic fluid levels?

How are you ladies having that checked out? My doctor does one ultrasound the entire pregnancy which is back at 20 weeks. Otherwise, nothing... nada. So I feel like a lot of concerns/things that you all figure out through ultrasounds scare me because I’d have no way of knowing. 😩 what are other methods your doctor uses to find these things out?

I think they only check if your at risk or like you think your leaking.

They usually only do that scan (if you’re in the US) due to insurance not covering elective procedures. If you’re concerned about fluid leaking, they will test your fluid and if it is amniotic fluid, they will refer you for an ultrasound. This is medically necessary so insurance will pay for it. If you’re not having any symptoms, you’re measuring on track, and there is no other reason to be concerned, then don’t worry about things. If you really want an ultrasound and you have the extra funds, tell your doctor you want one and you’re willing to pay out of pocket. Just know that the cost will not go towards your deductible or your out of pocket maximum.

don’t stress!! Midwife’s can usually tell by feeling round baby how decent the fluid levels are when you’re at appts!! Feel free to ask for a scan to help ease your mind tho! Doesn’t hurt to ask :)

If you measure big or measure small when they check fundal height they will refer you for an ultrasound. If your vital signs are normal and everything with baby is normal you really don’t need more ultrasounds. 🤷‍♀️

Usually that’s all they do because of insurance. But if you ask your dr and they put in through insurance, it should be approved. Other wise it’s considered elective, and that can get pricey! I’d ask like other have mentioned. But this is my 4th pregnancy and I only received another one at 34 weeks because I was in lots of pain! Good luck. I’m sure everything is fine though. ❤️

I got one at my weekly visits starting at 36 weeks. I wasn’t high risk, had a healthy pregnancy.
But if you’re concerned- ask. I was showing low fluid last Monday and when I went in today I still had it annnnnnd now I’m in the hospital being induced. Lol 🙃
