I was induced...birth story
Due date was April 17! Born 36weeks 3 days, 4lbs 9oz, healthy and no nicu time. Started twice a week monitoring 3 weeks ago. Wednesday the 23rd my BP was elevated with my protein ratio at .45 my amniotic fluid dropped from 12 to 5.5. I was sent to triage Thursday afternoon and told me they were admitting me to be induced. It was a long process to say the least...the whole thing started 7pm Thursday and I had her vaginally no drugs Sunday at 2:17am. I had 4 rounds of cytotec pills which started dilation, They also used a Foley bulb following the pills to dilate me to a 3 and there I was stuck, Although I had strong consistent contractions 5 minutes apart all day Saturday and part of the day Friday, I was not getting into active labor and or dilating fully. They played with the pitocin numbers to find the "sweet" spot. I had some amazing nurses that helped me do just about everything they could think of...for the third time they cranked my pitocin to 20, doc said give it two hours and I'll come check and we will talk, this was Sunday at midnight. I was exhausted from no food since Thursday, I was on magnesium for pre e, and from contractions all day Saturday, but Finally contractions started getting closer and more intense and around 1:30a I'm like someone get the doctor I need checked there was lots of pressure...of course everyone was busy but my amazing nurse checked and said I was Ready to go... 20 minutes after starting the pushing process we were done.
That was a giant blur to say the least, but totally worth every moment of it.
**Update** P.S.
I highly suggest anyone that is getting induced or even going through labor to get their own labor gown. I got the be mine off of Amazon. It was so much more comfortable than the hospital ones. I loved that it had a tank top, the hospital one I had on for a bit before my husband got there with the bags was so uncomfortable and restricting, I just brought a sweater wrap for when I got a little chilly.
