Bribery is motivation?

Toast • *Black Lives Matter* and Happy Pride Month everyone!

So children are difficult sometimes (or all the time) but as parents are expected to pursue excellence. Well teenagers don’t always pursue excellence and sometimes need motivation, is it a poor parenting choice if a parent were to “bribe” their kid into excelling in school.

For example, say a student who is usually a D student is told that if they can make it to honor roll they can get a puppy or something. Would this be proper motivation for a student for them to get gratification for excelling as motivation?
