Iud bleeding

Sooo I got my iud last Wednesday but I had already been on my period for a day or two. Usually they only last 5 days but I’m still bleeding and it’s been a week or over. And it’s not like just a little spot, like it’s still coming out a fair amount... is this normal? I thought it was supposed to help bleeding go away but I guess it would make sense if the uterus needs its “WTF” moment. Should I call a doctor or just still wait I out
