Cramps and constipation?

Can constipation cause short and sharp cramps? This is probably tmi, but I’m almost 9 weeks and for the past 4 or 5 weeks I’ve had diarrhea instead of the usual constipation people normally get. However, starting 2 days ago I started having problems with not being able to go. Today I started having weird sharp pains that were really quick to leave and then I went to the bathroom and they stopped. Is it normal for constipation to cause those types of pains?
