8 month old can’t pick up bottle after dropping it

Is this normal? I understand all kids go at their own pace but my 8 month old, if he’s eating a bottle and it falls out of his hands, he can’t pick it back up. He doesn’t look for it, doesn’t even try to get it. He just screams. If he drops and it’s right beside him, he will look at it and scream but not try to reach it
