newborn & 10 month old??

so i am 26 weeks and currently babysit my godson while his mom and dad are at work. based on my due date, my godson will be about 10 months old when i have my baby. i still plan on taking care of my godson when i have my baby. my husband will be taking time off when i have mine. so i will have extra hands around to help with both babies. do you think im crazy as a ftm and doing this?? everybody says im crazy for doing it but i feel like i could do it especially since my husband will be here with me.

I am in a similar situation. I nanny my nephew who is currently 6 months and I am currently 6 months pregnant. I also have an 8 year old of my own. I watch my nephew all day while my son is in school and his parents are at work. My sister in law is a teacher so she will be done working for the summer and start watching her son again about a month before I’m due. She asked me if I want to watch her son after my baby is born and she has to go back to work. I told her no. It’s not that I can’t handle it... it’s that I absolutely don’t want to. And honestly you don’t either you just don’t know that cause you haven’t had a child yet. The first 2 months are extremely hard with a new baby between it being up all night and you WILL be exhausted and trying to get your baby on a schedule. Plus you will just want to spend time with your own child and not someone else’s. Your baby is only that small for a very short amount of time and you will regret not making that time all about them cause you will have to worry about someone else’s kid. I would say after 6 months you could watch their kid again because you will be back to being yourself and your baby should be on a schedule and sleeping through the night and you can focus on them when they are so tiny. PLUS the fact that after you have a baby, both you and the baby have to go to the doctor constantly and your hubby will want to go with you the important baby doctor appts. And keep the baby at home so you can go to your personal doctor appts. TRUST me when I say you will not wana be carting around another child for this. Take the time to enjoy your child, just you and them. Cause they grow soooo quickly and it will make parenting wayyyy more enjoyable for you guys. My little girl will be 11 months when this baby is born. It will be a challenge, but I’m so excited for how much love there will be. We’re probably a little crazy, but I think it will be worth it.

I guess I would just have hoped that their parents would take a week off work to give you a break. That’s quite a bit to juggle. It’s doable but you could use a reprieve.

I think you should at least take a couple weeks off from watching your godson. You will only have these first few weeks with your baby once... I’d cherish that and not worry about someone else’s babe!

My daughter will be 16 months when this new baby girl comes. It will be fine. Lots of mummas have two close in age 24/7 so I bet they will be the best of friends. 😍 You’ll be a pro at everything too because you’ve just done it all with your godson.

I am currently just shy of 27 weeks and my son will be 8 months on the 9th of April. I am terrified of how hard it is going to be!
