Will be 20 months April 12th but doesn’t have a lot of words!

Question

How is speech coming along for your almost 20 month old?? The only words my son consistently says is Hi, bye, and baby!!! Everything else is at random!! He points to his teeth ears nose and so on. He even has full conversations with us but it sounds like gibberish to me!! He asks for a bah  bah (sippy cup) or cracka (cracker or cookie). He follows commands like  “close the door” “throw that away” “Give me a kiss”.

She only says like 5 words. She starts speech therapy today.

my daughter just babbles stuff, only few words like 'whats that?' 'meow' 'hi' 'papa' 'bye' 'kitty' 'done' thats about it, they arent required to speak at this stage more like 2.5 ish y.o

My son picks up a new word everyday but still not sure what hes saying half the time Haha I'm not worried. As long as you think hes progressing I wouldn't stress.

At our 18 month appointment they told us he should be using 25-50 words minimum. They said that if he wasn’t we should consider talking to a speech pathologist to make sure nothing is going on. 
Some kids do start to talk later and it can be normal but you also want to make sure there’s no underlying problem. If there is something wrong you want to start working on it sooner rather than later. 🙂

But just like every kid, we have numerous struggles in our house lol she to this day still won’t wear shoes. We can’t even get them on her feet because she scrunches her toes up. She also is going through a spit out her food phase 😑

My daughter is honestly talking like a 3.5 year old! She’s actually in a speech study at the local university to help deaf children learn to speak after they get their implants! It’s crazy, everyday she shocks us with stuff she’s clearly picked up just by listening to us everyday. She’s saying sentences at this point so very exciting!

My son is 20 Months and says 7 words. The rest is gibberish. His speech will be evaluated next week, and they will decide if he has speech delay and needs to see a speech pathologist. If you are worried I would get your child evaluated.

My son is also not really talking. He has started vocalizing more lately but not really words. He’s advanced physically and seems to understand most of what I say, he just doesn’t attach words to it. I had him evaluated and he is having a speech teacher come out once a week starting Monday.

My son is the same way, we’re having a meeting with early intervention (it’s a program in New Jersey that helps if you feel your baby or toddler is behind) to see if we could get speech therapy for him!

About 3 weeks ago he was only saying a few words. Then out of nowhere the week after he started putting words together so instead of just bye bye he was saying go bye bye or momma bye bye. This week he’s started saying I want joo (juice) I want nanana, I want chee. I go bye bye. It seemed just like over night. I was worried about it too but then it’s just like boom here’s almost a sentence.
