My baby will only sleep next to me..

My newborn will only sleep at night if she’s in my arm right next to my boob.. I feel guilty about it cuz people shame you for cosleeping.. I put something behind her and hold her close to me. im a light sleeper and wake up multiple times to check on her. Should I really work on making her sleep in the bassinet or does anyone else cosleep safely with a newborn?
