Sleeping, sos! Please please read!!!
I honestly don’t even know where to begin.
My husband and I agreed to never let our son sleep in the bed with us. My son is now 18 months old and we’ve always taken pride in how well he sleeps by himself. He seems like he looks forward to it. Give him a bottle and lay him down and he’s right to sleep. Same with nap time.
My husband and I separated and he moved out in December. This change didn’t seem to affect our son at all. I actually went and stayed with my parents and tried to get my son to sleep with me so I didn’t have to unload the packnplay and it didn’t work I had to set it up for him in a separate room.
Fast forward to about a month ago one night out of the blue my son wouldn’t sleep in his bed. Kept throwing his bottle out of it, all the blankets on the floor. I thought maybe he wasn’t feeling good or maybe he was teething so I brought him to my bed and he went right back to sleep. The next night the same thing. I tried the cry it out method but it wasn’t giving up. On his dads nights he did the same thing. However, now his dad says he will go to sleep in his bed at night as long as he sits in the chair next to his crib until he falls asleep. I just got my son back from his dads and decided to give that a go. At first he laid down with his bottle and I thought it was going to work. I sat in the rocking chair for about 15 minutes waiting for him to fall asleep. But then he sat up and the process of him throwing his bottle out of the crib and screaming started all over. I laid him down, kissed him told him how much I loved him and walked out of the room. Waited about 15 minutes went and did the same thing over and over. THEN all of a sudden I hear footsteps.. he crawled out of his crib. After an hour and a half of this I laid him in my bed and he fell asleep in less then 5 minutes.
I’m at a loss. I have no clue what else to do, especially now that he’s figured out he can get out of his crib. Like I said he never slept in the bed with us as a baby, not once. So now at 18 months I can’t pin point what is going on or how to stop it.
