Question

My best friend just attempted suicide. She’s alright. She’s at the hospital. Do I visit her? What do I say? Am I a terrible friend for not wanting to cuz I don’t know what to say? Has anyone ever experienced this!?
Update: her parents said no visitors at the moment. I’m waiting until hopefully the end of the week and I’ll get to see her. If her parents don’t let me how can I see her? Anyone know how to get past security in a hospital?

Just love your friend. I appreciate when my friends sit in silence by me. Telling me it’s ok to not be ok, and that they’ll be with me when I’m happy and sad.

Yes I’ve experienced this, but I was in her situation. My grandparents didn’t let anyone see me and they didn’t tell anyone. Just said I was on the hospital sick and I was going to be okay. That only made it worse. Being in the hospital and the ESU is not like the movies.

Go and visit her. Sometimes it’s not about what you say but just about being there. Be there for her and if she wants to talk, listen to her. And if she doesn’t just be there :)
She’ll be grateful for it and will always remember it.
