Is it wrong of me call my Ob/gyn and request a female instead of a male?

Question

First off, i thought about calling my OB/GYN to see if i could get in sooner just from pure anxiety. I’m so nervous. Also, I’ve never been to an OB/GYN and I’m not exactly sure how far along I am as my blood work was reading 1-3 weeks pregnant 2 weeks than my LMP start date was 2/13. 
Anyways, would it be shallow of me to call and ask for a female OB as opposed to the man they have me scheduled with? I don’t want to be sexist but I’ve just never been to an Ob/gyn and I’m already going to be super uncomfortable.
Idk, maybe I am overthinking it but any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated it!

I used to work for an OB/GYN and we had one male doctor at the practice. Our policy was that you could choose for your initial appointment, but we couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t be the one to do the delivery since they all rotated call at the hospital. You could call to reschedule, but keep that in mind. Good luck!

I go to an all female practice because that's what makes me more comfortable. It's about your needs. Do what you need to do

At my office there are 6 doctors (some male some female) and you have no idea who will be the one to deliver your baby (depends on who is on call that day), and they recommend you see each of them at least once during your pregnancy.
You could ask for a female doctor, but they may not be able to accommodate that depending on their practice. One option would be to find an all female practice, but you may still end up with a male from the hospital at which you deliver. I personally would just try to get over your fear early on. There is no privacy in pregnancy!

I have had both. I found that the women usually understand and can relate to your problems/concerns better. I also try to find a younger ob/gyn as I have found they are more tentative and they are more up to date on current science. 
My last ob was an older (late 50s/ early 60s) male and his bedside manner made me so mad. Pap smears are already uncomfortable the doctor shouldn’t make them worse.

I had a bad experience with both a Male and female ob but in the end I'd prefer a female I just feel weriod having a Male down there checking me out touching my boobs and my vagina idk I'm in the same boat as you thankfully for my 1st pregnancy there was only the one Male ob and the rest were female midwives and he was actually really great but now he moved to a new practice n I have a female now but personally the male was better this women is just not so heartwarming but thankfully the midwives are great and that's mostly who delivers the babies you do what u need to to feel the most comfortable it's your body and if someone has a problem with it than they can suck it

With my first I always tried to schedule with a female but it didnt always happen. And I never felt taken care of besides one OB that left about 4 months into my pregnancy there. So this go around I'm doing a midwife and I already feel better.

In my own care I've noticed that men seem to be more sympathetic than women. During a pap with a female I made her aware that she was hurting me and her response was "that shouldn't hurt, you're fine" and kept doing what she was doing. Personally I've felt that women would judge how my vagina looks while men usually don't care. Ultimately it's about what puts you at ease and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think it’s totally reasonable to be more comfortable with a woman, but be aware if you’re going to a practice that includes men you probably won’t be able to choose who does the delivery because it will depend on who is on call, and if it’s really important to you then you might have to switch to an a practice that only includes women.
